Everything you need to know to grow from zero to financial empire. Tips, strategies, and hidden secrets.
Trading Desk – Idle is an incremental game. Your core objective is simple: accumulate capital, reinvest it into income-generating assets, and watch your net worth grow — automatically, even while you're away from the game.
The main currency is $ (dollars). A secondary currency, ₿ (Bitcoin), becomes available once you unlock the Darknet layer. The two currencies are separate and serve different purposes.
The game saves your progress and continues generating income even when the tab is closed. When you return, you collect offline earnings based on how long you were away and the income rate at the time you left. Maximising your income rate before going offline is a smart strategy.
PHASE 1 In the very early game, manual clicking is your primary income source. Click as often as comfortable to accumulate enough capital to buy your first asset.
Once you can afford your first passive income asset, buy it immediately — even if it seems insignificant. Passive income compounds, and every dollar per second counts when you are just starting out.
Always prioritise assets with the highest income-to-cost ratio. In the early game, cheaper assets with faster return on investment are usually better than expensive ones, even if the expensive ones have higher absolute income.
The game features multiple categories of income-generating assets, each with its own income rate, cost scaling, and unlock conditions.
These are the core assets unlocked from the start. They range from basic savings instruments to complex financial products. Each asset generates a fixed income per second that increases as you buy more units. Costs scale up with each purchase, so the optimal buying strategy is to spread purchases across multiple asset types rather than maxing out a single one.
Unlocked after reaching a net worth threshold, casino assets introduce a luck-based income modifier on top of the standard passive income. Some casino assets generate income in bursts rather than steadily, making them high-variance but potentially very profitable.
Real estate assets generate rental income. Unlike financial assets, real estate has a spatial component — properties are laid out on a grid, and adjacency bonuses can significantly increase income when properties of the same tier are placed next to each other.
Hidden assets available only after unlocking the Darknet layer. These generate Bitcoin (₿) rather than dollars, and Bitcoin has its own upgrade tree and talent options. Bitcoin income cannot be converted to dollars but is used to purchase exclusive Darknet upgrades.
The upgrades panel (accessible via the toggle button on the left) contains purchasable upgrades that multiply the income of specific assets or global income. Unlike buying more assets, upgrades provide multiplicative bonuses — making them extremely valuable at higher quantities.
Most upgrades have multiple tiers, indicated by a star rating. Higher-tier upgrades cost significantly more but provide much larger multipliers. The general rule is: buy lower-tier upgrades as soon as you can afford them, and save up for higher-tier ones when your passive income makes the cost trivial.
Talent points are a special resource earned through gameplay milestones. They are spent in the Talent Shop, which provides permanent, global bonuses. Unlike regular upgrades, Talent purchases persist across all game layers and affect all income sources simultaneously.
Prioritise global income multiplier talents over single-asset talents. A 10% global income boost affects every single asset you own and will consistently outperform a 50% boost to a single asset type in the long run.
MID GAME The Casino layer unlocks automatically once your net worth crosses a certain threshold. You will see a new section appear in the main panel announcing the unlock.
The Casino introduces new assets with a different income rhythm — some pay out in large, irregular bursts rather than a steady stream. This makes casino income feel more dynamic and exciting, though it can be harder to predict your exact income rate at any given moment.
MID GAME Real estate unlocks alongside or shortly after the Casino. It introduces a grid-based property management system where placement matters — not just quantity.
Placing two or more properties of the same type adjacent to each other on the grid activates an adjacency bonus that significantly boosts their individual income. Planning your grid layout strategically can double or even triple your real estate income compared to random placement.
Properties come in multiple tiers, from basic residential units to luxury developments. Higher-tier properties cost more but generate disproportionately more income. As a general rule, fill your grid with mid-tier properties before spending on top-tier ones — a full grid of mid-tier properties often outperforms a few top-tier properties with many empty spaces.
LATE GAME The Darknet is a hidden game layer that becomes accessible after significant progression in the main game. It is not advertised at game start — discovering it is part of the experience.
Once unlocked, the Darknet panel appears with a distinct visual style. It features its own economy based on Bitcoin (₿), its own set of upgrades, and exclusive minigames that reward Bitcoin for performance.
One of the Darknet's passive income sources is a ransomware simulation mechanic. Vulnerable targets appear on screen at intervals — clicking them fast enough generates a Bitcoin reward. This mechanic rewards active play and is one of the few time-sensitive interactions in the game.
The Darknet layer is entirely fictional and satirical. No real hacking, cryptocurrency transactions, or illegal activities are involved or encouraged. It is a game mechanic designed for entertainment purposes only.
The Game Station inside the Darknet layer contains four minigames, each rewarding Bitcoin per action performed. They are completely optional but can meaningfully accelerate your Bitcoin income during active play sessions.
Click on moving targets as fast as possible. Each successful hit earns Bitcoin. The reward per hit scales with your Darknet upgrades. Best played in short bursts for maximum efficiency.
The classic Snake game — collect apples to grow your snake and earn Bitcoin. Each apple collected awards Bitcoin, and longer snakes earn more per apple due to a length multiplier. Use arrow keys to control movement.
A Space Invaders-style game where you shoot descending aliens for Bitcoin rewards. Use the left and right arrow keys to move and the spacebar to shoot. Aliens move faster as the game progresses.
A memory game — watch a sequence of coloured lights and repeat the pattern. Each correct answer earns Bitcoin, and combos multiply your reward. The sequence grows longer with each round.
The game offers optional ad-watching rewards through the "Watch Ad" button. Watching an ad gives you a temporary income multiplier that significantly boosts your earnings for a limited period.
Ad rewards are never mandatory — you can progress through the entire game without watching a single ad. However, strategically watching ads at key moments (such as right before going offline, or just after a major purchase) can significantly speed up progression.
Watch an ad immediately before an extended offline session. The boost timer pauses when you close the tab, so you effectively get a free multiplier applied to your offline earnings when you return.
